  • Step 1: Choose a Name

    I’m going to assume two things have happened before this step:

    1. You’ve been thinking about this for some time.
    2. You have an idea about what kind of content you’d like to put on your new adult site.

    So with that out of the way we can get right down to the first step: choosing a name for your site. You can’t just pick any old name and slap it on your site. Your name has a number of things that it has to do for you perception wise, marketing wise and also has a bit of a technical restriction you need to consider. So what’s in a name? Here’s the jist:

    1. Be memorable: Your name has to be easy to remember. Guys that bookmark porn sites are few and far between. Most of the time if a guy is surfing through porn sites and finds one he likes, he will have to remember it in order to come back next time. So if you want people to be able to find you again your name must be memorable.
    2. Be Descriptive: Your name should describe, in some small way at least, what people are going to find there. Could be the type of content (adult videos, thumbnail galleries, live webcams) OR the category of content (boobs, anal, straight, gay). This will help people identify your site as being a porn site that they want to visit.
      1. A perfect example is YouJizz.com this site states clearly that there will be YouTube style porn video in just it’s name.
    3. Include Search Terms: Including search terms in your domain can help you get rankings, but don’t sacrifice a good name just to get an extra search term in your name.
    4. Be Available as a Domain Name: You can’t have a domain that’s already taken. And you want the title of your site represented in your domain name (ex. istartapornsite.com).
