How to Install Tube Dreamer — Complete Setup Guide

You’ve downloaded Tube Dreamer — now let’s get it installed and your first videos live. This guide covers everything from uploading the plugin to importing your first batch of content. Should take about 20 minutes start to finish.

Before you start

You’ll need:

• A WordPress site running on adult-friendly hosting (see our hosting guide if you haven’t done this yet)
• The Tube Dreamer zip file from your download email
• Admin access to your WordPress dashboard

Installing for the first time? Check the v2.0.0 release notes to see exactly what’s in this version.

Step 1 — Upload and activate the plugin

1. Log into your WordPress admin at yourdomain.com/wp-admin
2. In the left sidebar, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin
3. Click the Upload Plugin button near the top of the page
4. Click Choose File and select the tube-dreamer-2.0.0.zip file from your downloads
5. Click Install Now and wait for the upload to complete
6. Click Activate Plugin

You’ll now see a Tube Dreamer section in your WordPress sidebar. That’s the plugin running.

Step 2 — Create your Videos archive page

Tube Dreamer needs a dedicated WordPress page to display your video grid.

1. Go to Pages → Add New Page
2. Title it something like Videos or Watch
3. Leave the page body empty — Tube Dreamer fills it automatically
4. Click Publish
5. Now go to Tube Dreamer → Settings and under Archive Page, select the page you just created
6. Save settings

Visit that page on your site — it’ll be empty for now but the template is active and ready for content.

Step 3 — Import your first videos via RSS

RSS import is the fastest way to get content onto your site.

1. Go to Tube Dreamer → Import
2. Select RSS Feed as your import type
3. Paste in an RSS feed URL from a compatible source
4. Click Fetch — you’ll see a preview of available videos with thumbnails, titles, and duration
5. Check the boxes next to videos you want to import (or select all)
6. Choose a category for this batch (or create a new one)
7. Click Import Selected

Your videos will appear on the archive page immediately. Refresh it to see them.

Step 4 — Import via CSV (optional)

If you have a spreadsheet of video data, you can bulk import via CSV.

1. Go to Tube Dreamer → Import → CSV Import
2. Your CSV should have columns for: title, url, thumbnail, description, duration, category
3. Upload your CSV file and map the columns
4. Preview and import

Step 5 — Set up your ad slots

Tube Dreamer has pre-built ad placement zones so you can start monetizing immediately.

1. Go to Tube Dreamer → Ads
2. You’ll see slots for: Above Grid, Below Video Player, and Sidebar
3. Paste your ad network HTML/JavaScript code into the relevant slot
4. Save — ads appear instantly on the live site

Works with any ad network: ExoClick, TrafficJunky, JuicyAds, or any custom HTML banner.

Step 6 — Configure your theme

Tube Dreamer works with any WordPress theme, but for the cleanest result use a minimal, fast theme. Kadence (free) is what this site runs on and pairs perfectly with the plugin’s templates.

• Go to Appearance → Themes → Add New and search for Kadence
• Install and activate it
• No further theme configuration is required — Tube Dreamer’s templates take over on video pages

Step 7 — Set your permalink structure

If you haven’t done this already, make sure WordPress is set to use clean URLs:

1. Go to Settings → Permalinks
2. Select Post name
3. Save Changes

This ensures your video URLs look like yourdomain.com/video-title/ instead of yourdomain.com/?p=123.

Upgrading from v1.x?

Deactivate and delete the old plugin first, then install v2.0.0 fresh. Your previously imported videos are stored as standard WordPress posts and won’t be affected. See the v2.0.0 release notes for full upgrade instructions.
